The Race to 0-16

We here at Sportsmeat root for failure on an epic scale. And as of yet, despite good efforts from the 1990 Patriots, 1996 Jets and 2001 Panthers, no one has yet to finish 0-16. Sadly, there are only three teams left in contention for 2007, and two of them -- the Rams and Saints -- were billed as playoff contenders coming into the season. The other team? The Dolphins, who do stink but get to play the Bills and Jets twice each, so you gotta figure a win is coming (Budds put the odds at 40-1).

Regardless, as long as there is a completely defeated team, we'll be there. Which brings us to this week's picks (home teams in caps):

NFL
RAMS Cardinals -3
TEXANS Dolphins +5.5
SAINTS Panthers +3
GIANTS Jets +3

Dogs
MICHIGAN E. Mich +32
USC Stanford +38.5
TEXAS TECH Iowa State +25
UCLA Notre Dame +21
HAWAII Utah State +38

BT takes Cards, Dolphins, Saints and Giants. And Stanford.
Budds takes Cards, Texans, Saints and Jets. And a reluctant nod to Notre Dame.
And I'll go with the Rams, Texans, Panthers and Jets. And Iowa State.

Comments:
Cards, Houston, Panthers, Jets

Cardinals (A white tailback in the NFL? You're yanking my chain!)
Texans (I have an unhealthy man-crush on my fellow UVa alum Matt Shaub)
Saints (Saints should pull off a win at home, after a bye week)
Giants (Hotter team, better offense, fans are less likely to boo the QB if things get dicey)

E. Mich.

Damn, I need a win. Here goes:
Cards, Hou, Car, NYG

E. Mich.

BTW, could you pick a worse game than the Saints/Panthers tilt? Missing the o-fer saints and car who were just shut out by the Bucs (I'm sorry they scored late)?

Rams
