A note on the name

It all started with a radio show. A college radio show in central Pennsylvania. The format was sports call-in, though callers were rare. On one of our first shows, we read a wire story about an Eastern European soccer team that had exchanged a player for a modest quantity of meat. We spent the next hour speculating about the trade value, in meat-market terms, of specific professional athletes -- Chris Dudley, Shawn Kemp, and others; the NBA was in season. And Sportsmeat was born.

In a perfect world, that would be the start of a success story, the witty exchange that launched brilliant broadcasting careers. Sadly, Sportsmeat never branched out beyond the handful of friends who listened (or insisted that they had). But, undeterred, we're giving it another try, bringing the 'meat to the blogosphere, so no one can listen once again. Enjoy.

And by the way, Regret The Error? You're bringing journalism humor to a sports blog? weak.

For the record, Regret the Error has been removed from links. I regret the error.
