Learning to Spell, the Playoff Football Way
After a one-week hiatus, the Sportsmeat NFL Picks are back with a playoff edition. Each week the point totals for each game will increase, culminating in a Super Bowl worth 15 points if you correctly predict the winner, who will cover the spread and the over/under.
Wild-card weekend, however, will be a mere two points per game, and the point spreads look like this (home teams in caps):
INDIANAPOLIS 6½ Kansas City
SEATTLE 3 Dallas
NEW ENGLAND 9 NY Jets
PHILADELPHIA 6½ NY Giants
Budds takes the Colts, Cowboys, Jets and his beloved E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles
BT takes the Colts, Seahawks, Jets and his beloved New York Football Giants
EJ takes the Colts, Seahawks, his heartbreaking J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets and gives a very lukewarm vote for the Giants

Well, EJ, let it be known that my Jets pick is even colder than lukewarm. Its ever so slightly above room temperature.
Colts, Dal, NE, Philly. And I have no confidence in any of these picks. NE could win by 30 or lose by 10. Same with the Colts. Dallas could self-destruct (see Detroit game). And Philly sometimes decides to let Tiki run for 200 and 3 scores (see Washington). However, the Philly D could rattle an already shaky psyche of one jr. manning. This is shear guesswork.
I'm with Shoes on these picks. I took the Jets because I root for the Jets, and essentially see the other three as coin flips. I'm cheering for the law of averages and a 2-2 finish.
