Where do quarterbacks come from? (TRIVIA)
When the NFL opens in a few weeks, the list of starting quarterbacks likely will include four players who were never drafted and six chosen in the fifth round or later. On the other hand, exactly half will be former first-round picks. A little more than half (18) will be players who attended colleges in the BCS conferences, but there will also be two Division I-AA alums and a former Division II star. It’s fascinating that so many different roads can lead to the most coveted spots in football. Which leads me to my trivia question:
What two colleges have more than one alum projected to start as an NFL quarterback on opening week in September?

I'll go with Marshall (Pennington and Leftwich) and maybe Fresno State (Carr and Billy Volek, though I'm not 100% on Volek).
By the way, when I was trying to come up with this I didn't have a single starter from Miami, Fla. (though one from Miami, Ohio). Is that right?
Also, the MAC is doing OK with Pennington, Leftwich, Charlie Frye and Roethlisberger.

DAMMIT!!!! I just wasted 20 minutes. I got Marshall, but didn't get the other. Nice job, Ej. I was actually just gonna promote Vince Young to starter and have Texas be my second school.
I can't believe I just spent 2 full minutes of my life racking my brain to recall where J.P. Losman went to college.
Trent Green went to Indiana. Who knew?

Oh, and in response to the title question, I'm sure there is a joke about two halfbacks that happen to be very much in love, but I'm too tired to think of it right now.
Trent Green went to Indiana? He was one of the ones I didn't know. Where did Kitna go? And Losman was Tulane, right? If so, that could make Tulane the right answer when Pennington goes down for the year with turf toe and Patrick Ramsey replaces him. Is Shaun King still out there?
Since the back-door has been opened (I mean the back-up QB door), I'd like to point out that if Michael Vick's herpes flare up, the University of Virginia would have 2 starting QBs in the NFL - Matt Shaub (Falcons) and Aaron Brooks (Raiders). Interestingly, Shaub is probably the best back-up in the NFL and Brooks may be the worst starter. I wouldn't be surprised if QB ratings bear that out.
Wow! Out first non-sportsmeater posting. We're hitting the big-time now (speaking of, where the hell is Rog?)
And I totally agree -- there is no question in my mind that Schaub is a better QB than Aaron Brooks (who is essentially Kerry Collins with better wheels but worse decision-making). He's also better than any of the four QBs on the Jets, Kurt Warner, Jon Kitna and probably a few others out there.
But the Falcons know Vick could go down at any minute so Schaub's not going anywhere. Neither, for that matter, are the Raiders.

He's not a totally unrelated poster. He's a Golden Spiker. And 95% of his comments will be UVA-centric, so you may as well just start ignoring him now...
